Tøgers Ardenneroffensiv
I slutningen af 1944 lancerede tyskerne en sidste offensiv på vestfronten, hvis formål var at stille tyskerne i en position, hvor de havde noget at forhandle med ved en eventuel fredsaftale. Offensiven var desparat og kompliceret og afhang af en lang række eksterne faktorer og mislykkedes da også trods en meget dygtig og fokuseret indsats. Selv om de Allierede blev forsinket i deres fremrykning nogle måneder mistede tyskerne de fleste af deres bedste styrker og derved en væsentlig evne til at forsvare sig i den sidste tid af krigen.
Uden andre sammenligninger i øvrigt ligner det meget, hvad Tøger Seidenfaden har forsøgt med udgivelsen af bogen Jæger - I Krig Med Eliten. Den krig, som Tøger Seidenfaden startede mod ytringsfriden efter Jyllands-Postens offentliggørelse af Muhammetegningerne har slidt hans avis i laser. Det var uundgåeligt at organet til den højeste oplysning ville lide nederlag når man talte de formørkede kræfters sag og nok så megen løgn og citatfusk kunne ikke rette op det. I lang tid udskød man overgivelsen og i stedet for indrømmelse og beklagelse over det, hvad der for snart alle andre er blevet en banalitet kastede især Tøger Seidenfaden sig ud i allehånde andre angreb på alt, hvad man ellers forbandt med tiden politiske ånd med en kraft, der for den traditionelt forsigtige avis til tider har været direkte skinger. Ingen af de andre sager, som krigene, debattonen, asyllovgivningen, den økonomiske politik, den offentlige sektor osv om de var gode eller ej havde den ringeste indflydelse på den principielle debat om ytringsfriheden. Faktisk har den hårde kurs med kampagnejournalistik under Seidenfadens ledelse ført til endnu en lang række mindre nederlag, som alle har betydet mere tab af troværdighed. Med den mærkværdige udgivelse af Jæger har man forsøgt en sidste desparat offensiv, der skal vende krigslykken og igen gøre Politiken og den relativismedyrkende, multikulturelitetsomfavnende og anstændige elite til medspiller på det danske åndsliv. Men planen er mislykkedes og Politiken har med den bastante demonstration af at man intet har forstået og intet har lært nu også mistet evnen til at fornægte realiteterne overfor sine gamle allierede og vel også på lidt leængere sigt - sig selv. Som Ralf Pittelkow så rigtigt skrev på sin blog på Jyllands-Posten
Avisen kom gruelig galt af sted under Muhammed-konflikten og endte i en pinlig alliance med islamiske mørkemænd vendt mod ytringsfriheden. Siden da har den haft et stort behov for at markere sig som forkæmper for ytringsfrihed.
Men Politikens politiske korrekthed fornægter sig ikke. Den ses i kontrasten mellem det hensynsfulde forhold til islamisterne og det manglende hensyn til det danske forsvar.
Tøgers gamle våbenfælle fra de glade Muhammed-dage de forhenværende udenrigsminister Uffe Ellemann-Jensen stiller sig direkte fjendtlig overfor Seidenfaden ifølge Danmarks Radio
- Jeg mener, Tøger Seidenfaden sætter sig selv over loven. Han kortslutter retssystemet ved at fare ud, inden retten har haft mulighed for at bedømme, om der er rimelig grund til at nedlægge fogedforbud. Det kan han ikke tillade sig.
- Den anden ting er, at han tyvstjæler en bog fra et forlag og forfatteren. Det er forbudt - også for chefredaktører. Det her lugter langt væk af smart markedsføringsfif. Men de har vist også elendige oplagstal på avisen, siger Uffe Ellemann-Jensen.

Ardenner Tøger, løbet tør for ammunition og brændstof.
Tøger sidder i tårnet på sin kampvogn. Dellerne flyder ud over kanten på lugen og sveden driver ham ned i øjnene. Bælterne er kørt af som følge af alt for mange hasarderede manøvrer og ligger som et bremsespor bag det udtjente køretøj. Han havde øjnene stift rettet mod de allieredes brændstoflager, for kun at opdage at det var en samling efterladte latrintønder. Fronten havde for længst passeret ham.
Jeg tror vi først må afvente chefredaktør Seidenfadens egen bog om dette hint og andet, som jeg anser for snart skrevet op til vor tid, før exit sker.
Men om jeg får ret - det vil tiden vise.
Hvis udgivelsen af Jæger-bogen var Politiekns svar på Ardenner-offensiven, så nærmer avisen og Tøger sig hastigt deres udgave af ‘Slaget om Berlin’. Det bliver sikert ikke noget kønt syn.
