Søren Krarup voksede op i et Danmark, hvor den åndelige arv efter Brandes havde trynet konservatismen (for Krarup symbolsk udtrykt i Harald Nielsens deroute) og suverænt dikterede præmisserne for den offentlige debat. Da jeg startede serien Sejrherren Krarup var det med det konkrete afsæt i debatten om at skulle se et muslimsk tørklæde betræde Folketingets Talerstol. Søren Krarup vakte dengang meget postyr da han ganske præcist sammenlignede tørklædet med andre totalitære symboler, som hagekorset og hammer & segl og jeg skrev bl.a.
Mange Konservative er røget lige i gryden, som så mange andre, ved at fokusere på debattens afsender, DF’s Søren Krarup og det er ham og hans parti de ønsker at lægge luft til.
Det er en ualmindelig dum kurs der i den nærmeste fremtid vil ramme dem i røven fordi de fejler fælt i spørgsmålet om ligestilling gælder for alle kvinder og eller kun de danske.
Godt to år senere har det Konservative Folkeparti hovedløst foreslået at forbyde den muslimske klædedragt burkaen. Opstandelsen på det spektakulære burkaforbud har været ganske begrænset og har først og fremmest drejet sig om det principielle i at forfægte den individuellle frihed og nedskyde statens mulighed for mentalitetsantagelser ved at definere en Burka, som tvang samt spin-diskussioner om den nye Konservative ledelses taktik for profilering og analyser af det daglige regeringssamarbejde. Konservativt Folkeparti har i den forstand sagt, hvad der skal siges og selv om forslaget skydes ned står begrundelserne bagved uanfægtet tilbage, at islam i sit væsen er det danske og det frie fremmed. Partiet har uagtet forskellige renegaters offentlige befippelse for altid forladt de forskrækkede opstød overfor kritik af islams væsen om de vil indrømme det eller ej.
Det samme har Venstrefløjen. Socialdemokratiet har altid været splittet i forholdet til det multietniske, men har under Helle Thorning Schmidts lederskab gradvist tonet mindre og mindre nudset flag, som Sass Larsen udtrykte i 2007

De anstændige borgerlige, som især kom fra Konservatives vælgergruppe truede med fremkomsten af Ny Alliance med at kunne ”overtage” regeringen er blevet husvilde bortset fra det isolerede Radikale Venstre. Der findes intet anstændigt alternativ længere og afsværgelse af VKO vil ikke ændre på det principielle, men kun bringe en socialdemokratisk variation til magten. Både den røde og den blå blok har indset at de omkring 70% af danskerne, der bakker op om den stramme linie er i flertal på begge sider og at de er villige til at vandre over midten for at blive hørt. Det gamle Danmarks fastlåste klassepolitik betyder at det radikale mindretal ikke længere kan afpresse majoriteten ved sideskift. Nu er det majoriteten af den enorme danske middelklasse, der er mobil. Debattens dagsorden er ikke længere diketeret af kulturradikal kritik eller marxistisk moral, men af en folkelighed.
I 1991 besatte knap hundrede palæstinensere Enghave Kirke og siden Blågaards Kirke i protest mod at deres krav om asyl var blevet afvist og 600 præster, BZ’ere, kunstnere, flygtningevenner og fanden og hans pumpestok gik i aktion med breve, besættelser og koncerter og året efter vedtog venstrefløjen sammen med Radikale Venstre en lov, der gav palæstinenserne asyl udenom den borgerlige regering. 15 år senere besætter en gruppe udviste irakiske asylsøgere Brorsons Kirke og igen mobiliserer præster, autonome og asylvenner. Men denne gang holder Socialdemokratiet på gældende dansk lov, mens Socialistisk Folkeparti er mumlende. Kun Enhedslisten og Radikale Venstre vil have omgjort eller efterprøvet afgørelserne. Politiet ryddede kirken og forskrækkelse, forargelse og fordømmelse blev udspydt over umennekselighed og krænkelse af hellighed og billeder blev lagt på Youtube, der viser liggende demonstranter få bank af Politiet. Og Folket så at det var godt.
