Taiwan

Taiwan is an island located in East Asia, situated off the southeastern coast of China. It is officially known as the Republic of China (ROC) and has its own government, political system, and economy, although its sovereignty is a subject of political contention primarily with the People’s Republic of China (PRC), which claims it as part of its territory. Taiwan has a rich cultural heritage, influenced by indigenous peoples, Chinese immigrants, and colonial history, particularly during the period of Japanese rule from 1895 to 1945. The island is known for its vibrant democracy, technological industries, and natural landscapes. Taiwan has a distinct identity and social fabric, fostering a sense of nationalism among its population.
