Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field known as a pitch. The primary objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. The sport is known by different names in various regions; in most countries outside North America, it is referred to simply as “football,” while in the United States and Canada, it is known as “soccer.”

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, maintained internationally by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). It is played with the feet, although players may use their bodies, except for their hands and arms, to control the ball. The game is widely acknowledged for its global popularity and has a rich history, with major tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup and continental championships attracting millions of fans and participants worldwide. Football promotes teamwork, skill, and strategy, making it not only a physical sport but also a cultural phenomenon with significant social and economic impact.
